Monte Combu’ e Lago pietra nera
15 MARCH — A loop through vineyards, ridgelines and volcanic rocks above Vigoleno. From Monte Combu to the dark ophiolite of Pietra Nera, a Sunday hike across one of the most unique landscapes between Val d’Arda and Val Stirone.
WHEN: SUNDAY, 15 MARCH
WHERE: MONTE COMBU & LAGO PIETRA NERA – VIGOLENO / VAL STIRONE
DISTANCE: 9 km
EL. GAIN: approx. 350 m D+
TIME: approx. 3h
This time we head to the hills surrounding Vigoleno, one of the most beautiful medieval villages of the Piacenza countryside.
The trail moves through vineyards, woodland paths and open ridgelines, gradually climbing toward Monte Combu, a panoramic point overlooking Val d’Arda and the rolling hills that mark the border between Emilia and the Apennines.
From here we continue along quiet countryside tracks until reaching Lago Pietra Nera, a small hidden lake surrounded by woods and dark ophiolite rocks — geological fragments that once belonged to the ancient ocean floor millions of years ago.
The landscape here constantly shifts: vineyards, forest, exposed hillsides and wide horizons opening toward the Apennine ridge.
Along the way we take our time — walking, talking and enjoying the rhythm of a slow Sunday outdoors.
At the right moment, we stop — properly.
A GRIP-style ristoro moment: good food, drinks, a break together surrounded by nature.
After the break we close the loop descending through softer trails and open countryside, heading back toward Vigoleno.
A hike about quiet hills, geological stories and early spring light.
